I converted a old .mdb to .accdb, conversion went well (office 2010). I can put the new database on my laptops desktop and it works perfect. When I put the database .accdb on network folder it only opens read only.

I have give the network folder full permissions. The database is the only file that is not able to read and write. the clients are using windows 7, server is sbs 2008

Any ideas for me

thanks JJ

You can verify that Windows is really allowing you full access (if Server 2008 is like Server 2003):

Right-click on the file, choose Properties, choose the Security tab, click the Advanced button, choose the Effective Permissions tab, click the Select button, type in your username, click the Check Names button, click the OK button.  It will show you what permissions Windows is really giving you.

I drag and dropped it on a shared folder on the network, set permission to everyone read and write modify on the folder. The attributes on the accdb file are all unchecked, but still opens read only

I don't have Access 2010, but in Access 2007 I think there are Trust Center settings that must be set in order to have read/write access to databases on network locations.  Access 2010 may be the same.  In 2007, the settings are at:

Office button -> Access Options (button at bottom of menu) -> Trust Center -> Trust Center Settings... -> Trusted Locations.

Check "Allow trusted locations on my network (not recommended)" at the bottom.

Click "Add new location..." button, enter details.

How did you move it from one computer to the laptop?  Did you put it on a CD to do the transfer?  If so, then it will always be Read Only until you change the attribute otherwise.

Click on the file, right click, and select Properties.  Near the bottom uncheck the Read Only.

Build a little, test a little.
