Problem with hyperlinks to Sub-documents in Master Document when opened with Word 2007

I created a master word document using MS Word 2003 and the sub-documents were placed in the folder which contained master document. When I copied the folder with the documents to a different location, I did not have any issue expanding the sub-documents in master copy using word 2003 (the links were automatically updated and showed the new path).  However this was not the case when the master document was opened using word 2007. The hyper links to the sub documents showed the old non-existing path and I was not able to expand the sub-documents. Recreating master document each time the location changes would be tedious. Could anyone please provide a reason and suggest a solution to resolve the issue.

Unfortunately, the links to files cannot be automatically updated if the directory / folder structure is changed. You will have to manually do it.

You may post your query in the link below to check if macros can be created to automate this process.
