Add-ins: visual basic errors when add-ins selected

Anonymous

When I have my add-ins selected I am getting the following messages:

Microsoft Visual Basic

System error &H8007007E (-2147024770)

Clicking OK clears this message which is then replaced with this one:

Compile error in hidden module: AddInCode

This takes a number of OK's to clear.

I am unable to run the Add-Ins that are installed on my computer.

Previously I only experienced these problems when my laptop was disconnected from our network, but am now experiencing them all the time.  It looks to be something related to how Excel is installed but wondered if anyone had encountered these issues.

Thanks!

Go to tools-> addins and uncheck the addins which is creating issues. Then restart excel and check how it works.

Also uninstall the Addins from the Add/remove programs in Control Panel.

Sorry for the late reply!  Some of the add-ins where automatically installed with Excel, but other came with a separate database product.  All are effected if try to use them without a network connection, but otherwise are fine.  I am not sure of the specifics of the network drive - it's on a server.... sorry!

What type of network drive do you use?

Where and how did you install the add-ins for Office 2003?

Refer the link in my above post to disable the add-ins in Office 2003.

The add-in is one provided by a vendor, however I had a number of other add-ins which also caused the problem.  Excel was recently reinstalled and these extra add-ins were not reinstalled fully.

I opened the application in safe mode and when I selected the add-in the error messages popped up... :-(

I took a look at the link you sent but it appears to be in regard to Office 2007 - I am using Office 2003...

The problem feels related to some component relating to the add-ins being on a networked drive - I don't know why this would be - but I thought if I could point our IT support people in the right direction that might help.

The problem has also returned to only occuring when I am not connected to the network.... which reinforces my feelings above.

    Thanks!

Are you using the Visual Basic add-in for Excel?

Try to open Excel in application safe. If it opens fine, then you can disable and re enable visual basic add-ins in Excel and check.

    Go to Start->click on all programs-> Accessories-> Run->

Type Excel /safe and click on ok (Note: - there is a space after ‘excel’)

Refer the link to disable the addins in office 2003:-

Note: the article is for outlook 2003 but it holds good for other office 2003 programs.
