When I try to open or create an Access 2007 database I get the following message in a dialog box:

Cannot open the microsoft office access database engine workgroup information file.

How do I correct this problem?

Never mind... I fixed the problem.  Apparently my 'system.mdw' file was corrupted.  I replaced this with a known good version and Access now works fine.

I just started having the same issue. I've found a copy of the system.mdw file in the \AppData\roaming\microsoft\access directory but I don't know if it is good or, if it is, what location to copy it to. - Thanks

why would this become corrupt, and where would one get a "known good copy"?

I found a copy in my roaming profile directory (On my H: drive).

I also found it in my C: file.
