Microsoft word startup settings

Greetings,

I am running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit operating system and have a question about microsoft word (2007).  When I launch word... the page that opens has the cursor blinking on the right side of the screen because the left indent is set to 5.93".

In order to resolve this I have tried saving a normal document in the STARTUP (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12) folder.  However the same issue is there when I launch word.

I have also tried running "winword /r" in the run line in an attempt to restore to default settings.  However the issue remains.

Many thanks for any assistance.

Starting with "winword /r" reregisters Word (reestablishes file associations in the Windows Registry); it has no effect on the Normal template. You cannot create the Normal template, you must either modify the existing one or rename it in order to force Word to create a new default one. Which method you choose will depend on whether you have customizations you need to save. For instructions to find and modify Normal.dotm, see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/BlankDocNotBlank.htm and http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/CustomizeNormalTemplate.htm.
