Color Picker

The color picker is now heavily weighted on pastel-like colors.

How do I get a color picker palette that includes the stronger, more saturated colors that are hinted at on the bottom of the color picker, and which  are....

The colors found in the Office 2000 color picker palettes ?

There was no 'standard' palette across all the applications in Word 2000, so it's difficult to know what you are missing, but it is true that the way colours are presented changed in 2007 and there is no easy way back.

The colours you see do depend on the Theme (new Office 2007 Theme, not related to earlier Word Themes) you are using but a change of Theme alone will not give you what you want - in fact, nothing will. PowerPoint MVP Echo Swinford describes a way to add custom colors to a Theme here: http://www.echosvoice.com/2007/customcolors1.htm but it doesn't show up everywhere in Office.

I have written quite a bit about colours in Word, primarily the use of them in VBA. If that is of interest, seehttp://www.wordarticles.com/Articles/Colours/2007.htm

    Enjoy,

    Hi engrattny,

I currently have Word 2010 open on my desktop and clicking the 'shading' option (the little bucket and paintbrush) on the Home Paragraph toolbar I have an option for 'more colours'. From this I can use either the 'standard' colours or, by clicking the custom tab, I can change the hue to create the colour variant I want. You may need to use this type of option to create a more saturated colour for your project.

My apologies.   I am using 2010, and wishing that the the saturated standard colors within Office 2000 were available, instead of all the pastel variants I found.

    Hi engrattny,

What application are you actually using in Office 2000. Along with the standard pallette of colours is there no option for 'more colours?'
