PowerPoint Process Does Not End

Hi all,

Been having issues with PowerPoint 2007 and 2010.  It seems that if an user closes PowerPoint by hitting the 'X' at the upper right of the window and if the user chooses to save the file, PowerPoint does not close all the way. There are no program windows open, but if you bring up Task Manager, you see PowerPoint running.

What brought this about was complaints by userB saying that userA is in a file when they in fact had closed it using the method mentioned above.  That being the case, userB opens the file as read only and can't save any changes.

Is this a common problem?  Is there a 'Best Practice' way of close files and PowerPoint. (Was thinking of suggesting that users save the file first, then go to the File Tab - Close, then exit PowerPoint.

Also, been happening with different machines and different users, not just one problem child.

Thanks,

RC
