Error when trying to insert object, Create from file

Powerppint 14.1.2 (110505)

I am attempting to link several powerpoints together by inserting objects, creating from file. Every time I try to insert the object, which is a powerpoint saved on my hard drive, i get the error:

The server application, source file, or item cannot be found. Make sure the application is properly installed, and that it has not been deleted, moved, or renamed.

I have attempted this on several different Mac OSX computers running the same version of powerpoint and I get the same error. I also get the same error on the 2008 version of Powerpoint.

I also get the same error when attempting to connect a different file type; pdf, gif....

Please help.

As the link from Elemental explains, PPT files are not embeddable objects in OS X. There may be several alternatives which will serve just as well [or better] but without a more detailed description of your intent it's hard to know which to suggest.

As for the other file types you mention, use Insert> Photo> Picture for most any image file type (including PDF) rather than Insert> Object. [However, PPT can't Link to a PDF even though the dialog suggests that it can.)

Regards,

Bob J.
