Office Product Key Validation Problems

I purchased my computer with  office home and student pre-installed.  Initially Outlook worked fine, but I kept getting messages about a trial upgrade.  When the trial up-grade expired I was asked to re-enter the product key which I have done.  It runs through a configuation process and says configuration was successful, and I should exit any microsoft programmes for the registration to take effect.  On closing the product key box, another blank product key box appears requiring me to enter the product key again and I am back at the start of the process.  I get the same when I try to use Publisher, but other Office programs seem to work OK.  I am sure I have the right product key.  Anyone help?

I just purchased a 64 bit laptop and cannot use my 32 bit version of Microsoft Office 2010 on It. The OS reports that

the program is incompatible with the Laptop. Since I have a valid product key, why will it not work with the MS office

that came with the laptop but is not installed. The new version reports that my validation key is invalid.  How can I

get the 64bit MSOffice to install with my 32bit validation key.  I have a new Laptop, I feel I should not have to purchase

MSOffice again.  Suggestions?

A 32 bit Office will run fine on a 64 bit system. As a matter of fact, it is preferred.

If your key is invalid, it is either because you are typing the key wrong, entering it into the wrong product or have bought a Product Key Card, which can never be moved to another system.

Thank you - I am attempting to be clear, it is my lack of knowledge that is hindering me!  The computer was bought brand new from Dell and I specified microsoft office home and student as part of the package and paid for it.  Office Home and Student is printed on the card with the product key number as well.  I believe the messages I received initially when using Outlook did refer to a 'pro trial', but I did not specify anything other than the standard home and student package.  I get the same recurring problem when I attempt to use Outlook, Access and Publisher - but I can use word, excel, powerpoint, one note and office tools.  I hope this is clearer...appreciate any help.

As Ron explained, Outlook, Publisher and Access are trial products.  If you no longer want them on the computer you can safely uninstall only the trial products using this method:

Start the activated copy of Word 2010.  Click File, Help and you should see a box with Licensing Operations on the right side of the open window.  Click on that. You should now see a line which says to uninstall the Trial.  Click on that and continue to answer in the affirmative to finish the uninstall of the trial.  Once the reboot of the computer is accomplished the uninstall of only the trial part is completed.  If you have created any files in Access, Outlook or Publisher those data files will remain unaffected and can be later recovered and used in another install of the creating program type.

Remove Office Professional 2010 Trial

To remove the Office Professional 2010 trial included with installations of Office Home and Student 2010 or Office Home and Business 2010, follow these steps:

  1. Open an Office application, such as Word.
  2. Click the File tab.
  3. Click Help.
  4. Under Trial Product, find Microsoft Office Professional 2010 and then clickLicensing Options.
  5. Click Remove Trial.

Thanks for that. Sorry to sound short, but it worked! I understand much more now and it is as I thought.

This is a classic situation. Buy 2010 Home and Student, install it and end up with Outlook, Publisher and Access. The last 3 are actually trials of Professional that are installed when Home and Student is installed. Professional includes what is in Home and Student and these 3 others. Microsoft don't say anything about this. It is a feeble attempt at marketing.

The Outlook, Publisher and Access are indeed limited time trials. Home and Student doesn't come with them. If you really do want them, you will have to buy them.

The preinstallation is a trial of Home and Student, unless you paid extra for something else. Check your receipt.

I have no idea where the Outlook came from because it is not a part of the trial. It could be part of a Pro trial but your post is extremely unclear. Publisher is also probably part of a Pro trial, as is Access.

Unless you have actually bought Office in some form, you have nothing but trials.

If you want help here, you have to be specific and correct with your explanations.
