I know what the password is. The application won't acknowledge it as the correct password.

Two Excel 2007 workbooks were password protected on my PC. Now I cannot open either when I enter the password. I get an error "The password you supplied is not correct. Verify that the CAPS LOCK key is off and be sure to use the correct capitalization".

I have had the same problem. Mostly when I have set protection of Visual Basic. It seems the two protections inhibit access to the creator. Everything within the file seems to work properly except the password access, even if it IS the correct password.
I'm not looking to "crack" a password. They are my documents, on my PC. I read the error message and followed the suggestion of checking the caps on/off status. Apparently the password and/or documents have been corrupted somehow. I'm looking for someone who knows more than me and more than what the error messages say, to shed some light on what happened and how it can be fixed, or how I can salvage the data in these files.
Anyone???
If you're certain of the keystrokes you used...then try turning ON CAP_LOCK when you type the password, just in case it was on the last time you locked the workbook.
Also...in case you're looking for password cracking assistance...that kind of discussion is prohibited in Microsoft forums.

The error message seems clear enough...You'll need to enter the correct password.
Is there another issue?
