I accidently closed out of Microsoft Word, not realising it asked if I wanted to save changes.. I said no.. but I realised after the math it was for saving changes, not if I wanted to close the program- hense why I said no.  It closed and I lost all of my assignment I had just finished writing out.  I am not sure how to get it back :(

Oh dear, that's a shame. Did you try doing a system search to find the saved version. If you go to the Search function in the Start menu it will search the either the entire C: drive or the entire My Documents (make sure you have sub-folders selected) depending on the selections you make. If it's anywhere at all the search should find it.

If for any reason the search doesn't come up with it using the document name try searching on some keywords that you know for sure are in the document.

I really hope you can find it. It's hard to imagine that it just disappeared if it has been saved at least once.

I'll continue to think of other options. Don't fret too much ... more people in different time zones will be getting into action soon. (Many heads are better than one!)

    Hi Carli89,

There is an autorecover that might help you. Word normally does an automatic save (defaults to every 10 minutes) so you might be able to get some of it back (hopefully a significant proportion).

    To find your AutoRecover location:

Click on the Microsoft Office button (top left corner of the Word screen)

Click on Word Options button (at the bottom on the right)

    Click on Save

You will find your AutoRecover location file. Go to the loction specified and check there.

If you need help with getting there: go to the Start menu, then computer and then open the locations as specified in the AutoRecover location.

    Hope you find it!

    Otherwise, I think it's gone.
