Vertical scroll problem

In the Navigation pane, the vertical scroll bar action is "soft" - i.e. when scrolling either direction, when I stop and release the mouse button, the scroll marker moves up (bounces up) a few lines...it's not a solid stop. So the object I was scrolling to is now a few lines higher than where it was when I stopped scrolling. The action is the same whether I click the scroll bar, use the mouse wheel or "smooth scroll" drag and drop.  Vertical scrolling works fine in other areas  of the program.  Horizontal scrolling works perfectly.

    Hi Nathan,

Wow, I've opened up a can of worms!  I uninstalled  Office2000, now when I invoke Access 2010, it wants to reconfigure itself, then reboot.  Same for the other Office 2010 programs that were installed.  I'll reinstall Office 2010.

    Hi Nathan,

I've run a series of tests:  The problem persists for all db's I've ttried - these include Acc 2000, 2003 and 2007, as well as all 2010 dbs I've created or opened.  I didn't try it with Northwind yet.  I do have two versions of Access on this machine...2010 and Acc2000.  I'll try removing Acc2000.

I've also switched views in the nav pane...no effect on the problem.  I'll let you know if removing Acc2000 clears it.  Thanks,

    Ron

    Hi Ron,

I haven’t experienced this problem in Access 2010, but after reading through some threads on this site, it appears a few users are.  I am running Access 2010 on several of my machines and am unable to reproduce the problem.  In addition to this, I did a quick search internally and I wasn’t able to see any cases where this problem has occurred in Access 2010.

+>Does the problem happen in all databases or just this one?

+>If you download the sample Northwind database, does the problem occur?

+>Do you have multiple versions of Office / Access on this machine?

+>If you switch views in the navigation pane does the problem occur?  (ex. right click on the nav pane -> select view by -> choose a different option).

Since I am unable to reproduce the problem on my end, it may be beneficial to have you open up a case with Microsoft so that we can take a look at the issue with you, unless someone else has any thoughts?

Hi Nathan,  I'm using Access 2010, no service packs (that I know of) and Windows 7.

    Hi Ron,

What version of Access are you running?  In addition to this, do you have any service packs installed?  The reason I ask is because this was an issue in Access 2007 and it was fixed in a service pack.

    Best Regards,

    Nathan O.
