After loading a Excel 2003 file with data and graph plots and in Compatibility mode I get greyed out areas (many) eg. Cut button and cannot edit graph plots in Excel 2007 running Win XP 64 Bit. There are several sheets and several plots of data. How do I fix this?

Are the worksheets protected?  (Review > Unprotect Sheet)

Is the workbook shared?   (title bar would say [Shared]: Review > Share Workbook)

Are some worksheets grouped?  (title bar would say [Group]: Right-click a sheet tab > Ungroup sheets )

Feel free to send the file.

I don't have a 64-bit operating system installed on which to test it.

However, I think it is quite normal for many operations to be unavailable when the active sheet is a chart sheet.

Can you list some examples that you think are inappropriately disabled?

Hello Again Bill, I thought of a few more things to tell you. The actual data sheets do not have very many greayed out areas under each functional tab. I think these are normal except for the functional differences between 2003 and 2007. I have found the same file has the same problem on Win XP 64 Bit on my computer at work. The original file was generated on XP 64 bit on another computer at a different place of work and is not computer dependent. So this problem is on both XP and Win7 64Bit. The problems seems to be related to charts/graph plots on seperate sheets and most of the functionality is greyed out if I switch to these tabs/sheets. I can also send you the actual file if you like. Many Thanks, Peter.

You can email me the screen shot via the Contact page on my website

You could also send me the workbook if you like so I can see if it does the same for me and work out why,

Hello Bill and thanks for responding. The answer is no to all of your questions. I can send you a screen image.jpg if you like, so you can see what I see. I cannot see any method to attach the image here. I have also used the compatibility checker and it says there is no problems. Also the system did not alert me that I had a response from you via email even though I ticked the box.
