"list view" control

I have a database that uses the Microsoft ListView Control, version 6.0. When the database is run under Access 2007 it runs fine. The Control appears in the Active X Control listing as well.

When running the same databse under 2010, none of the ListView fields work properly. Additionally the Listview Control does not appear in the Active X Control listing. (Please note that this is being run on 2 different computers)

I reregistered the MSCOMCTL.OCX file that i believe contains this control but it still does not function properly nor does it appear in the Active X Control listing. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Hi Jorist,

I would say you are on the right track.  I would assume the mscomctl.ocx file is a 32 bit active x control, thus you won’t be able to use it within the 64 bit version of Access.

    Hi Jorist,

Unfortunately, I am not aware of a 64 bit ListView controls but that doesn’t mean there isn’t one? Since it isn’t a native Access control, I really don’t use it much.  Perhaps someone else has some suggestions on what you can use in place of it, if you need to use 64 bit Access.

    Nathan,

Thanks for the feed back on my posts, I appreciate any help that I can get.

Running a 32 bit office 2010 in a Virtual Machine using win xp mode or Win 7 32bit seems to have solved my immediate problem ( I have both set up). What was strange is that this particular database uses other 32bit active x controls that worked with no problem.

(Just as a side not for others reading this post, I also installed Office 2010 32bit on a Win 7 64 bit (not a virutal machine) and the controls worked fine in that environment as well.)

Is there a permanent solution that you couild recommend as a replacement for the ListView control that can be used with a 64 bit version of Access 2010? Something that provides the same type of functionality. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Windows 7 64 bit

    Office 2010 64 bit

I have been researching this everywhere that I can and think I might have a solution. I am setting up a virtual pc with 32 bit Windows 7 and 32 bit Office 2010 to try and address the problem. Any thoughts on this? or am I wasting my time.

    Hi Jorist,

Do you have the 32 bit version of Office 2010 or the 64 bit version of Office 2010 installed on your other machine?
