When I close word 2010, WINWORD.EXE stays active and uses at least 50% of my computer's CPU.  What is the problem with it, and how can it be fixed.

Maybe you're using an add-in that interferes with Word. Disable all

add ins to see if that helps.

I had the same problem.  Per Gerard's response I disabled add-ins and reenabled them one by one.  The culprit was the MS mathematics add-in.  As I actually use this add-in, any suggestions on how to fix the problem and still be able to use the mathematics add-in?  I'm running MS Office 2010 on Win 7 x64.  Thanks in advance.

Same setup, same problem. The culprit is definitely the Math Add-In. Is Microsoft aware of this? What can be done to fix the problem?
