Help - can't edit a slideshow from 97-2003 version...?

Hello - any ideas? Creating a wedding slideshow and wanted to use some photos from a high school graduation slideshow that was a gift. NO idea who made the slideshow. It is saved as a 97-2003 document, and it always auto-plays when I put it in. Even if I go to My Computer, try to save the slideshow to desktop and then open it, I can't copy and paste any of the photos, it still autoplays. Is there a way to get into the file so I can copy off a couple of the photos? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ANY HELP!!!

You probably have a file with a .PPS extension.  If you doubleclick them, they autoplay.  That's their job.

You can either rename the file to give it a .PPT extension instead or, simpler:

Start PowerPoint

Choose File, Open then browse to the file and open it.  That'll open it as a normal presentation rather than in slide show view.

I'm guessing the creator made use of the Package for CD function (or whatever the equivalence might be called in PowerPoint 2003). There should be a folder where you can see (among other files) a *.ppt file that you can open for editing inPowerPoint (not in the viewer included in the "package").
