Usually this error occurs due to a corrupt template in the word startup folder. Remove this template from the startup folder.

Below is the location where you would find this file:

C:\Users<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Template.

I received the same error opening Word 2007 and found the information below fromMurali R   Microsoft Support, Answere r to fix it.  With the exception of where the ADD-IN was located.  It was a template called AVWiz12s.dotm  causing the problem for me it was located C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\STARTUP -  I simply highlighted the AVWiz12s.dotm and hit delete  - FIXED!

This probably occured as I had recently cleaned up my system which included uninstalling software I don't use specifically an Avery Label Wizard which I never used.

Hope this helps!

This is the Avery Labels Wizard, which doesn't work in Word 2007.

This is more awkward than it was in 2003, but click on the Office button, click on Word Options, and select the AddIns tab. In the dropdown at the bottom of the tab, select Word AddIns (it's probably pre-selected by default) and click Go. This will take you to the dialog that you used to get via Tools > Templates and AddIns, from where you can disable or remove the guilty.

    Hi MoeNiemi

I get the impression that you're an end-user, not a programmer?

In that case, you won't find much assistance on the MSDN site, you should be using the Answers site. I'm going to move your question there, but to get you started...

It appears you have installed an Add-in (this could be a template add-in or a COM Add-in) that is incorrectly programmed. In order to test this, hold down CTRL when starting Word: the message should not occur.

Think back about what software you have installed prior to when the error message started appearing. Uninstall that software, then contact the vendor about the error message. The vendor will have to correct the software.

If you're unsure what it might be, you can look in "Word Options", under "Add-ins" to see what's listed there.
