underlining text in protected document

Working on a table form which users will select a checkbox left of a title, to the right will be text.  Using a text field for the text area. Have tried to format this part with underline and then tried to modify the style.  Both work great until I protect document and then underlining goes away.  Is there a way to automatically have text underlined in protected document?

If you select the textinput formfield before you protect the document for filling in forms and then apply an underline to it, after you protect the document for filling in forms, the text that is entered into the formfield will be underlined.
