remove field codes, bookmarks, cross-references

I'm preparing a book for publication, and the publisher needs a document with the field codes, bookmarks, and cross-references removed.

Obviously I can do that manually, but is there an easier way?

Thanks.

Field codes & cross-references (which are fields), yes. Use Find & Replace, but first you need to reveal the fields in the document - Option+F9 should do it.

While in the Replace dialog's Find What field click the button in the lower left corner to expand the dialog if necessary. Then click the Special button & select Field. Leave the Replace With field empty & click Replace All.

I don't know of a way to clear all Bookmarks on a wholesale basis, though. (Not to say that there isn't one, but it would probably involve VBA which isn't supported in Office 2008 anyway.) Those you'd have to go into the Insert> Bookmark dialog & delete one at a time - You can't even multi-select using Shift- or Command-Clicking.

Regards,

Bob J.

Multi-Select on non-contiguous select in Mac is Command (⌘) Click.
