Can't create new Access 2007 database

I've searched all over the web for this answer and can't find a thing about it.  When I open Access 2007 on my computer and click "Blank Database" on the home screen to create a new database, nothing happens.  The same thing applies when I click the circular button at the top and choose "New."  So essentially, I can't create a new database.  This is VERY bizarre!

I don't have any problems opening any current databases.  It's just that I can't create any new ones - which I need to do.  I've tried updating my copy of Office but that doesn't do the trick either.  I am currently on version 12.0.6535.5005 of Access 2007 SP2 MSO (12.0.6535.5002)

I appreciate any advice anyone has on trying to fix this issue.

After clicking the Blank Database icon (or using Office button, New) you need to go to the lower right corner of the screen to name the database, accept or change the default location and click Create.

You should start a new database with a blank table in Design View.

Databases don't work on temp files. In Word you can start a blank document, type some content, then discard it by closing without saving. With an Access database, you need the core database object to exist before you can start work populating it with tables, queries, etc.

I have the exact same issue.  Nothing on the screen changes.  There is no place to name the database. All service packs are applied.  I have repaired the installation.  No go.

I have been making my living with Access since it was introduced.

    Any help would be appreciated.
