Does anyone know how to turn off the task pane so it doesn't appear every time I open Publisher 2007?

You cannot keep the the task pane from opening in Publisher 2007. It is a tear-off; you can minimize it to small and drag it to a less obtrusive area of your screen. Publisher will remember this the next time you open the program. Of course you can always close it in Publisher, to reopen the task pane, View, Toolbars, Publisher tasks.

Look at the top left corner of the task pane for four tiny dots, when your cursor hovers over these dots the cursor becomes a move symbol.

    Mary

I assumed that the OP was referring to the opening screen that asks what kind of document you wish to create (that screen can be kept from opening).
