PageNumber() function not updating/calculating

I inserted the PageNumber() function into a cell on one of my page. When enter key is pressed, it updates to the proper page number (e.g. page 2). But when the page is moved (say to page 3), the pagenumber function does not update and is stuck at 2. When entered again, then it is updated again. Isn't it supposed to be auto updating like in previous versions? What gives? Thanks.

    I have just made it go wrong, it usually works ok but the file I've just created doesn't always update correctly.

    1. Create a new blank document
    2. Add 2 new pages
    3. Go to page 2
    4. Add a rectangle shape
    5. Insert field Page Info -> Page number (it shoudl show 2)
    6. menu Home -> Pointer tool
    7. Drag Page-2 to after page-3, the page number updates correctly to 3.
    8. Drag Page-2 back to the middle position, the page number goes back to 3
    9. Drag Page-2 into the first position, the page number does not update, it still shows 2.

    Into which cell are you entering the formula? What is the exact formula you are using?

    I am using Visio 2010 (x86) in Win 7 32 bit. In XP and Visio 2003 everything works ok. Thanks and really appreciate if u can look at it again.

    It's really funny. I create a shape in page 2, then inserted a field. The field shows the formula as =PageNumber(). Both text and shapesheet value shows 2.

    I moved the page to page 3. Both text and shapesheet value shows 3.

    I moved them back to page 2. The text shows 2 but the shapesheet value shows 3. From then on, the shapesheet value never changes but the text changes properly. WHAT GIVES?

    Works for me, with 2 shapes I inserted the field formula =Pagenumber() into the one shape's text and into the other shape's user-defined cell, then reordered the pages and the numbers updated immediately. Which version are you using?
