Typing-like effect - possible?

Is it possible to create an effect of letters appearing one by one as if the were being typed at that moment?

In a system I work developing, we have a textbox that, as we type, an suggestion list appears below it. I'd like to reproduce this "effect" on a presentation of the new features of our software.

If that's possible, how can it be achieved?

Thanks in advance!

Marcelo

PowerPoint 2007

Try the following:-

1. Open a new Presentation.

2. Home / Slides group / click on the arrow to the right of New Slide then select Title and Content.

A second slide should get added to the Presentation (highlighted in orange on the left hand side).

3. Go to that second slide and enter the following:-

a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z

4. Highlight the above text

 - then Animations / Animations group / Custom Animation / the Custom Animation Task Pane should now open on the right hand side of the screen / Add Effect / Entrance / 3. Checkerboard /

5. Now on the right hand side of the screen click on the drop down arrow to the right of:-

a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z

 - and select Effect Options . . .

The Checkerboard pop up window should appear.

6. Effect tab / Animate text: field / select By letter and, in the field below (called % delay between letters) adjust to suit your own needs (I set mine to 20 at this point) / OK

TO CHECK THAT THE ABOVE HAS WORKED

7. Slide Show / Start Slide Show group / From Current Slide / click to launch letters

    Hi Lucy,

Thanks for the reply. As you may notice, I already got it working with trip_to_tokyo tutorial.

What I really needed was an effect of typing, not a suggestion box... I don't intend to get *that* good in PowerPoint... :-)

    Thanks

    Marcelo

    Hi

If you want to make it look like you type in a letter and a list of suggestions appear, then yes, but it would be quite a lot of work. Not a huge amount, but enough to ask your self 'how much do I really want this?' :-). Instead, could you just demo the software? Or create a screen recording of it?
