find/replace for fields

How do you use the find command for fields inserted into a document. Is there some special syntax that must be used?

I'm getting "Word found no items matching this criteria". I chose Special> Field from the drop down. Word inserts ^d in the find what part of the dialog box. Word doesn't find fields in the headers/footers of my document or in the main document. Fields are present (doc property and doc variable).

I appreciate any help with this.

Press Alt+F9 to display field codes.

Searching for ^d will then work.

When done, press Alt+F9 to hide the field codes again.
