"Microsoft Office setup cannot continue because the installation source has been corrupted" error when installing Office 2003 on Windows 7 Starter netbook.

Office version: Office 2003 Student and Teacher Edition OS: Windows 7 Starter I recently bought an HP Mini with Windows 7 Starter and I have been trying to install Office 2003 (bought it a while back and have one more license for it). I took advice previously given on these forums about how to get the installer onto my netbook (copy all CD files to a USB drive, move the files to my desktop, then run setup.exe), and installation started. After typing in my product key, I got the error given in the title of this post. I saw that Microsoft has fixes for this that involve downloading a very old version of MSXML (support.microsoft.com/kb/820930), but I'm not sure how that would affect 7. I tried installing as an admin, I tried clean boot (as well as shutting down all antivirus and firewalls as well as WiFi), I uninstalled the trial version of Office 2010. Every time, I get the error. I even tried a "workaround" Microsoft suggested in kb/820930 page, still didn't work! At worst, I'll grudgingly go buy Office 2010. But if anyone has any ideas I haven't tried, I'm more willing to try those! Thanks in advanced.

Do you have the full version disk for Office 2003 or is it an upgrade disk?

Run the fix-it and uninstall all versions of Office from the computer.

Insert the USB in any other computer and try to install and check, if you are not able to install then there might be some issues with the setup file.

Delete the setup file from the USB drive and copy it again using the disk and try to install.

Also check the link below and see if it helps.

I had EXACT same situation as you, and then found this thread.  The link leads to an authentic download of MS Office (Standard and Student Teacher Ed).  I tested my 2003 Office and everything works!
