Hi to everybody , I posted this on WORD forum, but so far no success, here is my problem and any help is appreciated.

I have several WORD documents , and each document has an EXCEL file that reads from other masters, they have worked great until 5 days ago.

If I have the word document opened, I can see the ribbon for editing like always, but when I click to open the spreadsheet, the ribbon dissapears, the links are not working, when right click cells CAN NOT copy any cell, but ONLY DELETE or enter data manually. Ctrl F1  shortcut does not show the ribbon.

When I exit  the worksheet object (excel) and right click over  it gives me the option toedit, open and convert and I have tried every ACTIVATE and CONVERT option inside, and is still the same......

I take the file to another computer and everything WORKS normal, apparently I messed up something.

PLEASE help me, Thanks, Saldir

Most likely you have lost the link to the Master.  I'm not sure if the Master is an Excel file, but I suppose it is.  Here is something worth trying,

  1. In the Word document right-click the table, and choose Linked Worksheet Object, Links,

(you might first try Update Now in the Links dialog box)

  1. In the Links dialog box select a (the) link in the area on the left, and choose Change Source, browse to fine the Master file and pick it and choose Open.  With luck this might solve your problem.

Thanks for the INFO, what I have done is that, I have inserted an excel table on  every word document. this excel (object) reads links from masters. Sometimes last week I email one document for EDITING and when I received it, I could not OPEN the EXCEL object, that is when I right click over  the object (excel) and tried the options toedit, open and convert and ACTIVATE. Now, in my desperate situation I may have tried to change the properties of this ducument but whatever happened affected all files.

I wish I could send the sample. But this picture is the excel file inbbeded I guess or inserted. AS I repeat I can read everything inside but after I open the object all properties are "GRAYED".

Thanks, I hope  U guys can help me, if not I may have to reinstall Office 2007.

Are these files Linked of Imbedded?  Unlikely, but is it possible that the source file was moves, renamed or deleted?

I am sorry I cannot replicate your issue, I would hazard a guess that something has gone amiss in the registry on your computer if the error cannot be replicated on another machine.  I suggest you reinstate a previously working copy through the recovery process, possibly as far back as 6 days ago.
