Problems with Microsoft Query

The Microsoft query does not let me specify any other types of Joins except for Inner Joins. The other joins types are grayed out, and I need Left Join ( In Microsoft query it is the second option). I don't understand why the other join types are grayed out - and how can I get them to work.

Well this is probably not the problem but in the Joins dialog box there is a Operator choice at the top, if that is anything other than = outer joins will not be available.
