Error Message, "Problem with Shortcut"

Whenever I try to open up Microsoft Word, a window pops up that says, "Preparing to Install." I wait for about three minutes and then I get another window with an error message titled, "Problem with Shortcut." It says: "This update package could not be opened. Verify that the update package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer update package." How do I fix this? I cannot access any documents.

Did you try working with other Office applications?

Try repairing the Office suite and verify the results. If the issue persists, remove and re-install the Office.
