My poor machine (Windows 7, Office 2007) has been trying to install these following five updates for several weeks to no avail.

I have spent hours on the web trying to find a solution, and have found that there are thousands of others out there who have all or a subset of the same installation problems.

When attempting to install these I get no error code, merely the message “The expected version of the product was not found on the system.”

I have tried installing them from the file where I keep my downloads, from the desktop, with and without the original disk in the computer – same result.

What I do not understand is why if this seems to be widespread problem, Microsoft hasn’t been alerted and attempted to solve it.

I, for one, am tired of having my machine try to install these every time I shut down .

I am a licensed owner of the software and have been a licensed owner since early DOS days.

Please get off your comfortable duff(s) and help us solve this problem.

Boot computer to clean boot and check if you are able to install updates.

If it fails, try manually downloading these updates from http://support.microsoft.com/ and enter the KB and download.

Try running as admin by rightclicking on the updates.
