"File in Use" notification message is missing!

We have some Excel files on a share drive. We want these files to be such that if one person is using it, and another tries to open it, they get a message that says "File in Use." I know Excel is supposed to do this. But in our case it is not happening. Why? Instead, it allows both people to open and edit it, and then it becomes corrupted. Not good.

Hello John

You may get a better response and solution on the technet forums since you are dealing with shared files. That forum is better suited for such questions.

Try posting your query at:

Hope you get a solution there...Thanks.
