WHY DOES ACCESS KEEP STALLING & "NOT RESPONDING" WITH VISTA 64-BIT??? THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY.

I've had numerous problems with Access 2007 (with none of the other Office 2007 Enterprise programs but Access).  It keeps freezing, especially in Reports Design Mode.  I have Vista 64-bit, 121 GB free, on a Gateway w/ Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GHz.

I've run the Office Diagnostics, removed all unnecessary pre-installed programs that came with the laptop, & have 122 g free.

Is this a problem with Office 2007, or a Vista 64-bit problem, or both?

I have Microsoft Access 2013 and Windows 7 with Symantec Endpoint Protection installed, and am having the same Not Responding issue. It happens a lot when I'm trying to create a form. It's unbearable and I would like to get access to my team at my organization, but in it's current state it's not worth it.

I too work for a large organization and don't have permissions to disable the antivirus.

I work for a large company and we are running Symantec Endpoint Protection.  Disabling the anti-virus software that runs on my PC is not an option available to me.  Thank you for your help.

I am having this same issue with Access "Not Responding" and hanging for serveral minutes, especially when creating Reports.  Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

I have the same stalling / Not Responding issue not with Access but with IE and Adobe Lightroom 2 and 3.  I have Vista 64 with 9GB of RAM.  Lightroom is install on the C: drive and the data is on D: drive (physically separated drives with NTFS partition on both). Windows can stall as long as 3 minutes and it seems to do that 3 to 5 minutes after starting up lightroom.  I checked the app event log and suspect that the System Restore process is doing something.

I think the problem started after SP1 is installed.  I also first thought it may have been the Avast AV that I am running causing problem. So I removed Avast and install MS Security Essential with the same result.

I will first try turn system restore off and see if it improves.

Don't know if upgrading to Windows 7 will fix the problem.  If not, I will be going to get a Mac.
