Word chancing document size etc. problems.

I have a Word 2007. I am writing a book with it and I also am doing the layout of the book with it. My printer has his B5 size as 17,2 cm wide x 24,8 cm high, which is a little bit smaller than Word’s B5 size. Problem: When I chance the document size form the Word’s normal B5 size to 18,2x24,8 size it goes all mixed up. It turns into a an Envelope size and especially when I chance the document layout to a book format it makes the pages to look like envelopes; very narrow. It also chances the size back to Word’s size and sometimes reverses the size so that the width and the height reverses.

It may have something to do with the margin for binding the book. I am not sure what kind of values to have there: I would like to use 1,5 cm for binding. and 1cm on the sides and tom and the bottom.

With Word I should be able to create custom paper sizes, so why isn’t it working? Thanks for help. Tim

You guys are right.. it has to do something with the printers. This is the error text I just got first time. Now I have to figure out what it means. Thnaks... I will be back if I cannot figure it out. Timo

This error may appear if the margins are too large or small, or used in the printer if you do the following:

Print using the page size that your printer does not support.

Change the page margins.Printer or printer driver does not support this region.

Printer Settings is set to horizontal printing and printer driver can print (or vice versa).

Print a fixed-size object that does not fit the print area.

Print using oletusreunusta, which is larger than the printable area of the page (this can happen sometimes when your default printer, change).

For example, the page left and right margins determined by 12 cents a width, which does not fit the page content.

You use when printing, less than 10 percent scaling (the final output size compared to the original content).

Linked to a network printing problems, we suggest moving the local network administrator or support staff for consideration.

It is your printer driver that provides what Word is able to do or not to do regarding Page layout.

But I must challenge your saying that the B5 size is different. B5 is B5 and cannot be anything else. What size are you trying to use? If you are using something non-standard, then the printer driver is telling Word to use the nearest size it can handle – which must be the envelope.

You need to change the printer driver Because as previously stated, the driver controls Word and not vice versa.

So I suggest try making a PDF driver or XPS driver the default and see if that resolves the problem.

Thanks for repy. I must make clear that by printer I mean a printing house that is not using an official B5, but their own size that is close to the WOrd B5 size. So in order to use this printing house for my book I must be able to chance the size of the Word documen to width: 17,2 x h: 24.8 and fo rsome reason when I try to chance it to thei custom size my document goes all crazy. It chances the size back to the Word's B5 size or makes it into an envelope etc.

So how can I chance my document to my custom size and have the layout as book layout?
