When I try to open a microsoft office document (Word, pp, etc), it automatically begins to "prepare for installation". However, a window soon appears that says that there was a "fatal error during installation". I've been able to open my files without these windows suddenly appearing for about a month before this started happening. How can I open my files again? I have microsoft office 2010 for office and student using a product key...

Log onto the computer as an Administrator-level user and run a repair.
Start>Control Panel>Programs>Uninstall a Program>right-click on Office H&S>Change>Repair.
Restart and check to see if it's fixed.
