Windows Search within embedded files

I have Word 2003 documents which have embedded docs and excel files. Windows search for any text in the embedded files would give the main word document as result. On transitioning to Office 2010, the embedded file is being modified and saved as 97-2003 compatible doc. But the Windows search for information in the embedded file does not return results. Is this intended or am I doing something wrong?

    What if the embedded file is saved in the 2010 format, will the search give you any result, try and let us know....
