More secure way to access online banking

Win 10 desktop PC

I would like to find a more secure way to go online to my banking. I have all the normal security features in place but think something more is needed. Some way to prevent hackers intercepting the connection, maybe.

I was recently hacked by bad actors who accessed an open financial program on my desktop. No hacking of passwords, keyloggers etc was needed as the app was already open, but somehow they took control and took my money. This is currently being investigated, and I won't explain any further.

    @Brian Wall
    Hi,
    Windows 10 includes Windows Security, which provides the latest antivirus protection.

    Different banks have different authentication protocols and different security protocols.

    As good as Windows Defender is for general use if the PC in question is used for online banking or handling sensitive personal data, we would always recommend contacting your bank and install the necessary software needed to ensure your safety, security and privacy while doing online transactions and banking.

    Here are some suggestions to improve your online banking security and protect yourself:

    1. Choose an institution that uses industry-standard security.
    2. Skip public Wi-Fi for private banking.
    3. Keep anti-virus software current.
    4. Change passwords regularly.
    5. Ask for text alerts.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Best option is to ask your bank about this.
