Hi,

Thank you for choosing Microsoft Communities. I appreciate your interest in posting your query.

From your issue description, I understand that you are facing difficulty in activating Office prompting the error code.

I would require some more information regarding the issue:

1)      Which version of Office Suite have you purchased?

2)      Do you have multiple versions of Office installed on your computer?

3)      How did you install Office 2013, was it a Click-To-Run edition or MSI edition?

4)      Are the computers connected to a domain?

Let us try the below steps for troubleshooting the issue and check if it helps:

·         Click Start and type cmd in search box.

·         Right click on the cmd.exe option in search results and select ‘Run as administrator

·         In the command box type the following:

Cscript "%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office\Office15\ospp.vbs" /inpkey:<enter your product key>

Note: Include the dashes in the product key

·         Open any Office 2013 application and try activating.

If you were unable to activate Office by running the cscript, uninstall Office 2013 completely from the system and re-install it and check if it helps.

Really after jumping through all these hoops, getting frustrated for days and still getting nowhere, I think it'd be a much easier solution to opt for the reliable pirated versions of your software rather than the dysfunctional legit copies I was stupid enough to purchase.

This is simply clever ploy by MS.

MS wants us to go in circles and ultimately, force unsuspecting users to buy the full version.

This is unfair and anti competitive trade practice and must be addressed by regulatory authorities.

Tried this, said it was successfully updated in Command Prompt / Admin.

Opened Word, asked for activation again, added key, got the green check mark and then didn't activate again.

I have Microsoft Office Pro Plus 2013, and searching the internet it seems like this activation process has a LOT of problems for everyone.
