OneNote hyperlinks open default browser instead of the application itself

I am using Lotus Notes and I am receiving emails with OneNote hyperlinks everyday. However, when I click on them, instead of these hyperlinks open OneNote application directly, they do open my default browser (Chrome) instead (home page), and of course the OneNote link never opens.

Is there anything that I can do about this? Please don't suggest as the solution to set IE as the default browser again because I already know that :)

Thank you very much in advance.

    I just set IE as the default browser and the link works like a charm. However, I am trying to find another solution as well... Any suggestions would be perfect.

    Thanks.

    Right I managed to fix this issue.

    I use Outlook 2007 and had followed the following link to enable Outlook protocol for 2007.

    Shortcuts and the Missing Outlook:// Protocol

    Pasted from <http://www.slipstick.com/problems/outlook-missing-outlook-protocol/

    In the process of following instruction if you set URL Protocol= "" then it works.

    I had set the registry as: "URL Protocol"= "" which then meant for some reason it opened Chrome.....

    When I fixed the issue by removing the quotes now even if Chrome is default browser then outlook protocol link opens Outlook and not Chrome.

    I would say if you are having the same problem where you have configured registry to enable outlook protocol for office 2007 and Chrome is opening then you have made a mistake in your registry key configuration.

    Hello,

    I have the same issue.

    I use links as follows in OneNote:

    <Outlook:Sent Items>

    outlook:Inbox

    <outlook://Sent Items>

    However these links open Chrome home page. I have set IE as default browser but still Chrome opens!

    However if I click the same link from a browser then Outlook opens!

    Can you help please.

    Hello Barnes. Thanks for replying:

    I receive these hyperlinks through a Lotus Notus email. A sample example would be like this:

    onenote://t:KB/Department/department%20example/Program/Training.one#title%of%the%document-id={6335122B-751S-4DVSKR}page-id={EGBHSA4356-SDBR45}end

    where t=a shared drive and KB is a folder and Department is another folder as well, etc...

    There is only one notebook located in a shared drive.

    [... Please don't suggest as the solution to set IE as the default browser again because I already know that ...]

    Do you mean: if you set IE as the default browser then the issue is solved ?

    Thanks

    How are Onenote hyperlinks sent?

    Where are these notebooks located?

    What is the target file for these hyperlinks?

    Provide a sample hyperlink so that we know what these hyperlinks are.
