underlined entry forms?

I'm making a contract template

I just wish to make a entry text form field and independently underline that section so that if you print it out you can fill it by hand or if you are filling it via Word. The text box will aligne with the underline?

I can't control the formfactor of the text box more than either a full border or nothing. If I simply draw a line with a shapetool I can't get the line to align with the textbox.

I dunno this should be easy, but are very very frustrating.

Any help would get kisses.

This is most commonly done using Tables for the structure of the document & using Table Borders only where preferred or by using Paragraph Borders. Those & other options are described here, but those provide the best control. The article uses Word for Windows as the model but the same features/concepts apply in the Mac version.

Bob J.

Well, if you MUST do things the hard way :-)

Bob's method is essentially "Table, how many columns, plop!"

It's about three or four clicks :-)

    cheers

The method I use, is create your document and any where you need a fill out line:

    1. type colon  then type one space at the point insert a Right tab and drag tab on ruler drag to end of Margin.
    2. Or drag to desired position, stop, type space and finish your line.
    3. Repeat as needed.
    4. Then go to format Tabs, and in all the right tabs created click on the solid leader, in each case.
    5. Once you created your form save it as Template.

Sorry about the stops and stutters At one time when I was Treasurer and Recording Secretary on an Electronics Association I had this down to a science.  But I am out of practice.
