Security Warning Override

Dear All,

I am using Office 2010 on a Windows 7 OS.

I have a Excel speadsheet that is created by the ‘Export to Spreadsheet’ command in the Actions button from a SharePoint website.  There is a hyperlink from each record to that file located on the Sharepoint site.  Each time I click one of the hyperlinks I get a Microsoft Warning box.

Here is a link to the warning   https://www.dropbox.com/s/pcbf9onhqn1v2ur/Microsoft%20Warning.png

I would like to get rid of this warning, as I open several hundred files a day.  I have found this fix, but it is not working for me, and for many others as the comments I've read.  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925757

There is a section at the bottom of this article

If you still receive a warning message Method 2: Modify the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT<CLSID>\EditFlags registry subkey

Use this method if the warning message affects multiple computers.

To disable the warning message, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  2. Locate the following registry subkey:

For example, if the file name extension is WMV, select HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WMVFile\EditFlags 3. Click EditFlags, and then click Rename on the Edit menu. 4. Type OldEditFlags, and then press ENTER. 5. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD value. 6. Type EditFlags, and then press ENTER. 7. On the Edit menu, click Modify. 8. In the Edit DWORD Value dialog box, click Hexadecimal under Base. 9. Type 10000, and then click OK.

I cannot find the correct registry location to edit the flag.  It is an excel program opening the hyperlink which is a PDF file.

Any suggetions to make this fix work or any other suggestions to disable the warning?

Thanks in advance,

Jim

Just a suggestion, is this warning not being triggered by IE ? This should be a standartd security warning to PRTOTECT yourself.

In that case, check its settings and maybe add that site to your trusted sites list.

Jean,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.  The warning link it titled at the top with 'Microsoft Office' suggesting that it is not generated by IE.  Unfortunately the option to list this site as trusted is locked out by Admin.  I will request that they do this to see if it is the solution.

Thank you,

JIM

Does the issue occur only on this computer?

Try to access the file from different computer and verify if the issue occurs.

Did you try to run the fix it from the article which you have mentioned?

Do you get the pop up when you click on hyperlinks in Excel file create/linked d to other files apart from the SharePoint?

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

This happens on all the computers.

The Fix It did not sole the problem.

    Yes, same warning everytime.
