I have Windows 7 and Office 2010 installed on my 32-bit PC. When i try inserting a chart into a PowerPoint Presentation i get the following error message: "To insert a chart, you must first close any open dialogue boxes or cancel". Excel is not opened and there are no Excel processes running. How can i solve this problem?

Thanks

    Hi,

Thank you for choosing Microsoft Office Community and thanks for providing us an opportunity to assist you. By the description, I understand that you get an error "To insert a chart, you must first close any open dialogue boxes or cancel” when inserting a chart in PowerPoint.

Does this happen with a specific file or with any files on the computer?

Copy the chart to the PowerPoint slide instead of inserting it from PowerPoint and check if that works.

Let us repair the Office 2010 suite and check if it helps. Refer the article to repair Office 2010:

I hope this fixes the issue. If not reply, and we will be glad to assist you.

    Thank You
