MS Word hyperlink and the Back button

I wanted to establish a library of documents so readers could use hyperlinks to reference often-used procedures. I also wanted the reader to be able to return to the original location in the document after seeing a procedure.   I set up the Back button in my procedure documents and it worked as advertised the first time, but was disabled for subsequent tries. That is, I could not bounce back and forth from the hyperlink source and destination documents. How do I enable that kind of funcionality?

    How did you setup the back button to your procedure documents?

    Where is the original document located (local drive, Network drive or external hard drive)?

    Are there any Macros/codes in the document?
