Clearing Data Validation with Backspace

I have a cell that is data validated. Everything works fine until I try to clear the data in that cell. I can clear it using the delete button but if I click backspace it give me an error message: "The value you entered is not valid".

I have tried to add a blank space into my validation list but to no avail.

As I said, it is only when using backspace. The delete button will work but I am sending this out to a lot of people to use as a tool and I don't want to explain to each of them to use delete and not backspace.

Any tips?

I actually cannot reproduce the error using backspace as it responds the same way as delete in my quick test. However, you might try adding ="" to your validation list as it is an empty string which is not quite the same as a blank cell.

Edit: after some additional testing in an attempt to reproduce the backspace behavior, I would suggest that you leave the Ignore blank option checked in the Data Validation definition.
