Printers are working fine. The problem is microsoft powerpoint 2010 files cannot print to any printer or pdf . We have windows XP.

I tested  and it is working fine in windows 7 and powerpoint 2010.  the problem is between xp and powerpoint 2010.

Updates that fix the problem or updates that cause it?   ;-)

I have 2010 on a laptop with Windows XP SP3 and don't have any problem printing to a networked HP laserjet printer, so at least we know the problem isn't endemic to PPT 2010/XP.

I'd try the suggestions here as a test ... that'll at least determine whether the problem's in the printer driver or somewhere else:

    Hi,

I'm actually having this same issue with some end users in our office. We're running office 2010 w/ XP. My laptop is running Win7 and as mentioned it's working fine for me.

Do we know if windows had some sort of update in XP for office 2010? When in powerpoint when you try to print it acts like nothing is happening.

Any additional information would be helpful.

    Thanks,

    Adel

I'm glad the workaround helps ... thanks for letting us know.

But still, you *should* be able to print to your printer.

At one time, I had to periodically remove and reinstall certain printer drivers; that was under different version of Windows, but it's still worth a try.

You might also check with the printer manufacturer to see if there's an updated driver available for the printer.

    Steve,

Thanks for your workaround solution. This works fine then.

When we try to print powerpoint presentation file, it does not do anything. There is no print job showing in the print queue...

    Many Thanks again Steve,

    Vivian

When you say the files can't print ... what exactly happens when you try?

And as a workaround, instead of printing to PDF, try File, Save As and choose PDF.

After saving as PDF, open the PDF and see if you can print it.
