offset for side by side view

I'm currently tinkering around with a project in word, currently titled "Good Will Extorted" and available in the amazon kindle format.

However I still need to toy around with style and format before I'm comfortable with submitting it into create space where I'll publish it in paper. As I have been editing and manipulating my manuscript and converting it between platforms I've noticed one little thing that kinda makes keeping track of the printed appearance a bit obnoxious. because the first page of this document will be printed on the right side of the printed version the left is now shown on the right side w/ a side by side view of my 5x7" pages.

if printed it'd look like this when propping the book open

page 1     or      empty offset         First page

page 2 page 3                         Left          Right

page 4 page 5                         Left          Right

etc......

but with the current side by side view it shows up as

page 1 page 2     pages show up backwards      Right Left

page 3 page 4                                                  Right Left

page 5 page 6                                                  Right Left

etc......

What I'd like to know is whether there is an offset setting to make the file to show up like the first set, I can insert a cover page to temporarily offset the view but I keep having problems converting it back and forth after removing that page and attempting to keep the same format and appearance.

You can have the view you want in Print Preview but not in Print Layout view. The first thing you need to do is add Print Preview Edit Mode to your Quick Access Toolbar so that you can get the classic Print Preview (not the one shown by File | Print). To do this:

  1. Right-click the QAT and choose Customize Quick Access Toolbar.
  2. Under "Choose commands from," select All Commands.
  3. Scroll down to Print Preview Edit Mode and select it.
  4. Click Add>> to add it to the QAT.

Possibly you have already enabled either "Mirror margins" or "Different Odd and Even Pages" for headers and footers. With either of those options enabled, you will see true facing pages in Print Preview Edit Mode.
