Excel 2010 Crash, Exception code: 0xc0000005

Hi , I got an Excel Problem when trying to open all excel files in .xlsx format, Excel Application will be no responding , but everything ok with .xls format files.

any advise?

I have tried repair Office, clear all the addins , change default printer, but no luck.

that's was different to the problem we got. The files I have are saved in XLSX format and get the problem. but there must something wrong with the file. I deleted some format through change extension name to zip, and then the file can be open , and Excel not stop working.

Anyway , the problem is now gone after delete some format, for the file came from one system in other countries, so maybe formats wrong. Hope it helps to you,DDague2012

    We chased this around for a while today.

    The file was origionaly saved as a XLS 97-2003 version file.

    We saved a copy as .XLSX and all the problems went away.

    I've tried the above steps, but unfortuanatelly it doesnt help.. Any other advise?

    Same issue for me, running on Server 2008 R2 in Remote Desktop services mode. All settings are as stated in Aravinda's post.

    Uncheck the compatibility options for Excel file following the steps below and check if you are able to open .xlsx files:

    • Click Start.
    • Click Computer.
    • Double click on C-Drive (C:).
    • Double click on Program Files. Note: For Windows 7 64 bit double click on Program Files(x86).
    • Double click on Microsoft Office folder.
    • Open Office 14 folder.
    • Right click on Excel.exe.
    • Go to Properties.
    • Select the compatibility tab and uncheck all the check box.
    • Click Change Settings for All Users and ensure all check box are unchecked.
    • Click Apply and OK.

    If the issue persists, follow the steps from mentioned below:

    • Click the File tab, and then click Options.
    • Click Advanced, and then click to clear the Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) uncheck box in the General area.
    • Click OK.
