I opened a workbook and selected new window to see 2 sheets at once. The window file names have the word [VSync] after the file name.  Excel (offline and online) help does not recognise [VSync].  What is [VSync]?

[VSync] goes off when I close all of the open windows except one - that one contains the original basic file name.

The windows do not scroll simultaneously.

Excel 2003 (but applies to later versions of Excel).  The word [VSync] appears after the file name when 2 or more sheets of the same workbook have been opened.  So in the tabs at the bottom of the screen the two open sheets will be shown as:  examplefilename.xls:1 [VSync] and in the next tab as: examplefilename.xls:2 [VSync]

Funnily enough, [VSync] does not appear for every Excel file opened in this way, but it always does for the one that I am querying.

Read the article.  Quite interesting but relates to old technology. I think that the Excel [VSync] is different.

In which application, are these files are created?

Does [VSync] go off when only one window is in view?

    Does the windows scroll simultaneously?
