Hi Nicolas,

Thank you for choosing Microsoft Community. I will help you in providing the steps to determine the cause of the issue so that you can install Office 2010 successfully.

What is version and edition of Office suite currently installed currently on the computer?

It looks like there might be corrupted installation files for Office on the computer.

Refer the Method 2 and run the FIX IT to remove any traces of Office suite manually from the computer.

Office 2003 Suite: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2639197#Method2

Office 2007 Suite: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218#Method2

Office 2010 Suite: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301#Method2

If you have Office 2010 Click-to-Run based edition, refer the following link to remove Office Click-to-Run:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/update-repair-or-uninstall-office-click-to-run-products-HA010382089.aspx

Once removed, restart the computer in Clean Boot and install Office 2010 suite. Refer the article on How to restart the computer in Clean Boot:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: Restart the computer to normal mode after the Office 2010 is installed on the computer.

If the issue persists, reply and I will be happy to help you further.

Thank You.

I'm running windows8 and just recently went to install 2013 Office Pro Plus 64x and while I was doing so it told me to remove the 365 edition and the Click-To-Run based edition that were previously installed for trial. So I did so but through the FIX IT Client and I go to run the installer for Pro and it came up with a similar error, and ever since then it just say "Microsoft Office has encountered an Error."
