side by side subreports

I haven't found too much on this, but I have an issue where I have four subreports that I want listed on my report side by side of each other. Right now, the subreports in design view are next to each other, but when I preview the report, subreport 1 is on its own line, then subreport 2 data is below it. So it looks like this:

Header Slot 1 Slot 2 Slot 3 Slot 4

data

data

data

data

What I want is this:

Header Slot 1 Slot 2 Slot 3 Slot 4

data data data data

It's been working like this, but I'm trying to save space on the report page, so this would be a huge help. The subreports are currently in the details section. Any ideas? Thanks for your help!

Are you sure you are viewing the Print Preview? Do the subreports overlap? Are the tops of every subreport above the bottom of all of the other subreports?

Is there anything set with columns in the page layout?

Yes to print preview, the subreports do overlap. All four subreports are aligned with each other and the same size. No columns are set (just 1)...

The tabs didn't come through on my post but the vertical position is fine, but it's the horizontal position where they aren't aligned. I'll try to avoid them from overlapping and see if that helps.
