Edit data greyed out

I have made several charts in PowerPoint 2010 and when I go back to edit them later, the entire Data Group on the Chart Tools Design Tab is grayed out and unavailable. I cannot 'Edit Data" at all, even though the chart is an active chart.

How did you insert the chart in PowerPoint?

Is it by using the insert chart option within PowerPoint or copy/paste the chart from an Excel file?

Open PowerPoint file, Click on File and info, at the bottom right corner do you see ‘edit links to files’?

Does this issue occur with specific file or across all the files?

Create a new file and check if the issue persists.

I tried to recreate user profile, it's worked for me. Or you can try to login by admin and open the same file, let's see it can work or not.

Are the PowerPoint files saved on locally on the hard drive or over the network?

What is the extension of the PowerPoint files, is it .ppt or .pptx?

This chart was inserted from the Insert Chart menu. This file has no links. This issue has happened on the several files and fortuantely, not across all files. It does not persist in a new file, but it has happened numerous times now so I hope to find the source of the problem.

    Thank you.
