zig zag lines between network objects

New to Visio. Trying to document network switch architecture. Core switch in top center of drawing. Have quite a few access switches. Want to be able to completely control the path of the line going from access switch to core. The line needs to go to the right a couple of inches, then up a bit, then to the right, then up again and then to right - a zig zag sort of line. What is the best way to do this?

I tried drawing a line from one object to the other, with no concern on the path the line took, just making sure it locked onto the object with the red square. Then I tried to adjust the line with the midpoint handles and the corner handles. This was ok, but didn’t look that great. I tried adding some additional connection points and maybe a little improvement, but still not very good. It never gave me good control over where the line would go. Is there a simple way to draw a line between two objects where you can control the path the line takes and where it is one complete line and not a bunch of small lines connected to each other?

Hello,

On the home tab if you use the standard connector you can achieve this, but like you said you will have mid-point handles on the connector to adjust the path the connector takes. It may look like multiple lines but it is one solid line. Unless I am totally misunderstanding what your trying to say. The key here is that both sides of the connector need to be connected to something. (little red box when you drag a connector over it) You can also change the connector type by right clicking on the connector and choosing straight or curved. Play around with it and let me know if I'm way off base with what your asking.

Thank you,
